The Sisters of St. Joseph Neighborhood Network (SSJNN) ministers in the area between 12th to 26th, State to Cranberry Streets which includes the area of Erie known as (Historic) Little Italy (HLI). One-on-one advocacy is provided to the residents, a weekly soup kitchen, emergency assistance with food and hygiene products and rent and utility assistance when financially feasible. In addition SSJNN provides programs for children and women i.e. for children: individual tutoring in reading, sewing, cooking classes, keyboard and after school computer; for women: the Time Out for Moms program which is a weekly luncheon, networking, education, and a support group for neighborhood mothers plus participation in the collaborative programs of Women in Action and the Family Savings Program.

SSJNN works toward neighborhood revitalization by working with the city of Erie, Erie Redevelopment Authority and HANDS (Housing and Neighborhood Development Service) to rehabilitate homes and build new affordable homes.

The Genesis Home Project provides affordable rent to person’s interested in future home ownership. During this time of rental, the tenant is mentored in the areas of budgeting, referrals for credit counseling and basic home ownership skills.

SSJNN is the leadership for the implementation of the 5 year Historic Little Italy Redevelopment Plan.
