Cooking classes are held throughout the year for different age groups of children.

These classes are designed to provide nutritional information, introduce the children to basic healthy cooking techniques and the preparation of simple meals. Nutritionists from Penn State Extension Cooperative Extension Office have provided instruction for this class along with guest volunteer chefs taking time out to share their talents.

In the summer, children also learn to cook produce items from their spaces in the community gardens, such as the zucchini shown here.

Healthy Cooking Classes are one of the programs offered for youth at SSJNN. After completion students receive a certificate, as shown here with Janice Ronan of the PSU Cooperative Extension office.
